JOB PURPOSE: To supervise underwriting support operations while driving continuous improvement and efficiency.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Implement tools and systems to improve workflow tracking and service level metrics. * Monitor and improve team performance. * Lead the development of comprehensive procedures in a centralized library. * Oversee the day to day operation of the underwriting support function. * Develop and implement workflow procedures. * Coordinate process and systems training for the underwriting support staff. * Conduct reviews and support development of direct reports in four US offices. * Participate in the recruitment and selection process to ensure the organization has the necessary talent to accomplish business goals. * Drive improvements with other departments as needed, including Business Support Services and IT. * Conduct duties of the Underwriting Assistant role as needed. * Other duties as assigned.
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required. * Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; insurance industry experience preferred. * Experience managing direct reports. * Customer service orientation. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Strong analytical skills. * Ability to work with detailed information accurately. * Effective planning, problem solving, and decision making skills. * Ability to balance multiple inquiries and competing demands utilizing a positive coaching approach with employees. * Sense of urgency with an ability to prioritize as service demands change. * Proficient with common software and overall comfort with technology. * Ability to travel up to 25%.
