Department overview:

Sales & Account Management is a key function within IHS Markit and is responsible for client-facing activity including co-ordination of sales coverage to maximise cross-selling opportunities; contract renewals; roll-out of new products via beta testing and overall business development.

Position summary

This is a new position on IHS Markits North American Sales Team. This position will be located in New York. This group will also liaise with counterparts in the other major financial centers. The successful candidate will have broad experience in financial markets, generating new business and hunter style sales experience and the ability to manage complex relationships.

Duties & accountabilities
  • Development and execution of a sales plan
  • Driving and executing new business
  • Relationship maintenance and development with key accounts
  • Direct sales of certain products depending on background and experience
  • Working with product/sales groups in the execution of contracts
  • Renewal of existing contracts
  • Strategic work and thinking with client base to identify new initiatives and partnership opportunities
  • Development of the infrastructure and process to support account management
  • Internal communication and reporting
  • Participation in specific project teams towards launch of new products and services
Education and experience
  • Years of experience 5-12
  • Broad based sales experience with another data vendor or investment bank at a senior level with exposure to managing complex relationships and/or processs
  • Knowledge and experience of ESG products and data a plus
  • Knowledge of the physical commodity and data a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
  • Strong inter-personal and influencing skills
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills
Commercial awareness
  • Key requirement of managing complex relationships towards the main objective of increasing revenue streams year-on-year in line with the account plan
Personal impact
  • Must be able to manage senior level meetings
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal required for complex commercial and business discussions
  • Needs to build internal relationships as well as external ones. Important to have the confidence of product managers and other salespeople. Team player and willing to progress in a rapidly changing environment
