* Undergraduate degree required; MBA or other professional degree preferred
* 5+ years of experience in a professional service firm that is recognized as a leader in its field
* Experience in professional development and people issues, either as a professional development manager or as a management consultant
* Possess a track record of developing people in a professional capacity. McKinsey knowledge is a plus
* Experience as both a contributor and collaborator with senior management as well as more junior professionals
* Demonstrated leadership and problem solving ability with capability of thinking through nuanced and complex situations
* Good judgment and strong interpersonal skills with a track record as a trusted peer with partners, consultants and professional development colleagues
* Excellent communication skills (oral and written) at all levels, with strong influencing capabilities
* Non-hierarchical approach and collaborative style with the flexibility and ability to build consensus
* Strong organizational and process management skills
* Comfortable with multi-tasking and prioritizing within a fast-paced, demanding environment

Who You'll Work With

You will work with McKinsey Digital's Financial Institutions Group (FIG) in our New York location. This group brings together the best of McKinsey Digital's capabilities to help our clients use digital technology to transform their businesses. As part of this group, you'll join a global team working on everything from IT modernization and strategy to agile, cloud, cyber-security, and digital transformation. You'll typically work on projects across all industries and functions and will be fully integrated with the rest of our global firm.

You'll also work with colleagues from across McKinsey & Company to help our clients deliver breakthrough products, experiences, and businesses, both on technology and non-technology topics. What You'll Do

You will be responsible for managing a full range of professional development and staffing activities for Digital McKinsey Financial Institutions Group (FIG).

In this role you will work closely with the both leadership and professional development teams in North America and globally. You will help craft and execute an overall strategic agenda relative to people aspirations, while also delivering the best talent the firm has to offer to McKinsey's clients. You will bring an understanding of the value created by professional development strategies and an ability to help develop and execute these strategies.

You will manage ongoing staffing for ~60 consultants as well as other members of the FIG sector. You will work with the Digital McKinsey Partners and Associate Partners to balance the dual objectives of people development and client service, and will staff the teams they lead. You will ensure that the Digital Northeast Office (NEO) and FIG consultants are staffed on teams that meet both client needs and the professional development needs of the individuals.

You will identify consultants from other offices when McKinsey Digital NEO & FIG consultants are not available or appropriate, while also making sure that Digital NEO & FIG consultants receive appropriate apprenticeship from a broad set of leaders and opportunities in the firm. You will also communicate staffing decisions and reasons for these decisions to both the engagement team leadership and the individual consultants and will coordinate and communicate with other McKinsey Digital offices and practices where necessary.

Your role will be that of a thought partner to leadership and consultants, and you will develop professional relationships with each individual, including an in-depth understanding of professional aspirations, experiences, strengths, development needs, and relevant personal circumstances. You will also help set expectations among the consulting staff regarding role progression, performance, and what it means to be a consulting professional, staying informed of consultants' development and provide counsel on assignments, developing skills, career progression, and other topics as they arise.

You will manage the evaluation, feedback and compensation processes, overseeing a high quality and efficient semi-annual review process for Engagement Managers and below, as well as facilitate training and learning, ensuring consultants receive timely and appropriate training and manage attendance to McKinsey Digital and local learning programs at key junctures in their trajectory.

Lastly, you will work on a variety of ad hoc location and McKinsey Digital-wide projects that are self-created or initiated by the Digital Canada Location Manager, Partner group, and the broader Digital McKinsey community and other key stakeholders.
