PenFed Credit Union is hiring a Mortgage Underwriter at our San Antonio Service Center in San Antonio, Texas. The primary purpose of this job is to underwrite conventional, correspondent, and VA loans in accordance with investor guidelines including the secondary market. The Mortgage Underwriter will respond to audits and performs quality control on mortgage files. In addition, this position acts as a mortgage loan originator (MLO) as defined in the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (S.A.F.E. Act).

Education and Experience
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
This position will not directly supervise employees.
Licenses and Certifications
There are no additional licenses and/or certifications required. LAPP/SAR designations preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
*Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.*
Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call is required.
